Hi Savage Buds-
I've been using Mobil 1 MX4T 10/40? since fall 2002. I have changed
the oil several times since then with the same stuff. I have
experienced NO clutch slipage. However, over the past 1,300 mi.
(roughly 2-3 months), my oil level has been dropping in the sight
glass from the top mark to the low mark, apparently after about every 700
miles.
My question: I don't know where the hell the oil is going! No oil
leaks yet and no blue smoke exiting muffler to indicate burning oil.
Am I experiencing "blow-by"? Is the summer heat causing the engine
to burn this grade oil? Should I be running the Mobil 1 synthetic
20/50 in summer months to avoid this problem? Isn't that for
*colder* temps?
